Ellene was the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Martha Jane Dixon Cornett. She was the widow of Astor Whitaker.
Surviving are 3 sons: Billy Harold Whitaker of Dry Fork, Charles Martin Whitaker of Somerset, and Bobby Dean Whitaker of Somerset; 3 daughters: Mattie Joyce Burton of Noblesville, Indiana, Linda Kay Whitaker of Somerset, Betty Yvonne Combs of Dry Fork; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild. Ellene was preceded in death by 1 grandson: Jason Wayne Combs; 2 sisters; 4 brothers.
Burial will be in the Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine, Kentucky.
