Television and film producer. Born William Norton Panzer in New York City, he attended Princeton and the New York University Film School. In 1976, he moved to Los Angeles where he partnered with Peter Davis to found Davis-Panzer Productions. Together they produced more than twenty films, including 'Death Collector' (1976), 'The Osterman Weekend' (1983), and 'Freeway' (1988), but perhaps most significantly, 'Highlander' in 1986, a cult classic. 'Highlander' led to a franchise of sequels and a television series which ran for six season. He served as Executive Producer for the series and contributed to screenplays for three 'Highlander' movies. 'Highlander: The Series,' was nominated three times for the Gemini Awards and once for a Saturn Award in 1998. Panzer was very popular when attending Highlander conventions, where he mingled freely with fans. In 2007, while ice skating at his home in Idaho, he fell and sustained a severe head injury, after being airlifted to St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise, he succumbed to the blunt force trauma injury, he was 62. He was a member of BAFTA and the Television Academy. There is a scholarship fund in his name at the Lawrenceville School in Princeton, New Jersey. Fans of Highlander arranged for a star in the International Star Registry to be dedicated to him, it is located at Ursa Major RA9h55m5s D 49°46'.
