INSCRIPTION

LINDELOF
Anders G. Lindelof
1836 – 1915
his wife
Marie (Peterson/Pehrsson/Pehrsdotter) Lindelof
1843 – 1897

They are Elenora's parents. See below:

She is found on documents with all kinds of name variations: Eleanore, Elenora, Elnora, Nora, Elenore, Eleanora and Eleanor. To everyone in the family she was known as Nora. I suspect her actual name was Elnora. Her birth record does not list a first name.

She lived on Crescent St. at the time of her death per "Aunt Joan" her great niece.
She married Charles Stephen Jarvis, he reportedly died young by oral family history, but research shows he was not young at all-he was 70. Marriage record is found in Jersey City, New Jersey 9 Oct 1915. There are no known children from this marriage per census records and family history. He is never found on Census records except in 1880 (which is prior to marriage) he is never found living with Elnora...so that is quite a puzzle. His son is found living with Elnora in 1917 @ 261 Patchen.

When her brother Charles wife, Harriett, died, Nora pitched in. She was reported to have "taken care" of sister Ida , but also her niece, Marie Margaret Lindelof, my grandmother. She was known as "Aunt Nora" in our family and her family revered her. It was said she was the kindest person on the earth.

I remember the time right before she passed, although I was quite young. My dad wanted to see "Aunt Nora" who was actually his great aunt, one last time. There were tears in his eyes when he got in the car to leave Brooklyn to drive home to Long Island. I was only 2 years old, but I remember that day vividly.

My Aunt Joan and cousin Carol remember her fondly too.

Lindelof is not his birth name, it was a name he got while being an apprentice in Sweden at about age 14, he was born with last name Svensson which also is not HIS Dad's birth name, his father got named Glad from being a soldier in Sweden. He later used GLAD.

I have his sibling on my tree also-at least one (Anna) immigrated to the US.

Anders father was Sven Nilson Andersson Glad BUT as I said before, Glad is a name they tack on when you are in the military but he was born Sven Nilson Andersson.

Anders was the inventor of a Steam Roller, and there is much info (publications and pictures of the invention and even a biography on him) on my tree.

I know how difficult it is sometimes to make sense of someones family tree when it is just written down. It is much easier to actually see it.
