George Napoleon Proulx was the beloved son of Pheobe Ann Bisson Proulx Carpenteri. George was born on Dec. 20, 1913 in Providence, Providence Co., RI and died on Jul. 26, 2006 in Gettysburg, Adams Co., Pennsylvania at the age of 92. In a 1940 U.S. Census, George N. Proulx was living as a border in Norwich Town, New London Co., CT. George was married to Lois Nellie Gill Proulx. George Napoleon and Lois Gill Proulx had five daughters; Edna Annie, who lives in Wyoming, twins Joyce and Janet, who live in Louisana and Florida, Roberta of Vermont, and Jude, another writer who lives in Wales. George N. Proulx's paternal grandfather was Olivier "Levi" Brisson and his maternal grandmother was Maggie LeBarge. Annie Proulx wrote about the Bisson family history in her book "Bird Cloud: A Memoir of Place." According to her book, Levi Brisson was born in 1820 in Montreal, Canada and lived in the States for more than 40 years near Danielson, CT. He was married 3 times and had 42 children and died at age 59.
