Carl G. Rideout, 72, of Falmouth, formerly of Mashpee and the Otis Trailer Village, died September 18 at Falmouth Hospital.
A Mayflower descendent, Mr. Rideout was born in Weymouth, the son of the late Edward H. Rideout Sr. and Edena L. Strout.
He often wrote in to The Falmouth Enterprise on a number of issues, sometimes under the pen name "the Mashpee Ground Hog."
Mr. Rideout was a devoted Christian.
He leaves a brother, Art Rideout of California.
His brother, Edward Rideout Jr., died in 1987. Mr. Rideout also was the brother of the late Shirley M. Mahn, who died in 1976.
Interment will be at the South Chatham Cemetery.
