Sergeant Jarvis served with the 458th Bomb Squadron, 330th Bomb Group from Alamogordo Army Air Base, New Mexico.

He was one of seven airmen killed in the crash of B-24E Liberator #42-7019 near the airfield.

The other crew members who perished were:

1st Lt. Frank W Gardner , pilot
2nd Lt. Will D Willis
S/Sgt. Ralph M Clark (died 2 days later)
S/Sgt. Price A Keys
Sgt. Lawrence Suprenand
