Larry W. Kieselhorst, age 77, of 1218 Dewey St., Manitowoc, died of pancreatic cancer on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, at Arbor Rose Hospice Center in Mesa, Ariz. with his wife at his side.

Larry was born on Aug. 20, 1933, in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin to the late Werner and Regina (Lenz) Kieselhorst. He was a graduate of Valders High School, class of 1951. He married Jennifer Grotegut on Sept. 8, 1956, at St. John-St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Cleveland, Wis. After graduation, Larry was employed as farm manager at Manitowoc County Hospital. Shortly after his marriage, he began employment as a sales representative/sales manager of the John Deere implement dealership at Cleveland Cooperative. He served in that capacity for 38 years, retiring in 1994. After retirement, Larry and Jennifer spent their time between their homes in Manitowoc and Apache Junction, Ariz.

Larry served on the financial committee, as an elder and as treasurer at St. John-St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Cleveland, Wis. After moving to Manitowoc, he joined Grace Ev. Lutheran Church and was also an associate member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Mesa, Ariz. Larry and Jennifer were instrumental in organizing the Melody Dance Club. In earlier years, they traveled extensively.

He was very personable with many friends and acquaintances. He enjoyed visiting with all and was known for his infectious smile and his easy, friendly manner with people. He took pride in his yards in Newton and Manitowoc, Wis. and Apache Junction, Ariz.

He is survived by his wife: Jennifer, of 54 years; a sister: Donna Buck of Manitowoc; three brothers: Franklin (Helen) Kieselhorst, Wyoming, Ronald (Lila) Kieselhorst, North Carolina, and Roger (Rita) Kieselhorst of Manitowoc; his mother-in-law: Frieda Grotegut, of Manitowoc and Apache Junction, Ariz.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Don and Janelle Zimmermann, of Manitowoc and Mesa, Ariz. Nieces and nephews include: Terry (Barb) Buck, Connie (Terry) Allen, Renee (Neil) Conradt, all of Manitowoc, Daniel (Debbie) Buck, Newton, Dennis (Ellen) Buck, Jeffrey (Kim) Buck, Beverly (Ken) Peroutka, Manitowoc, Ralph (Stephanie) Kieselhorst, Saukville, Lori (Mark) Schommer, Muskego, Lynn (John) Mann, North Carolina, Jeremy Kieselhorst, DePere, Eric (Heather) Kieselhorst, Green Bay, John (Jennifer) Kieselhorst, Two Rivers, Amber (Peter) Hansen, Kiel, Adam Kieselhorst, Russ Kieselhorst, Manitowoc, Dean (Tracy) Zimmermann, California, Diane (Todd) Nelson, Texas; step nieces and nephews: Fred (Pat) Dombroski, Virginia, Tiffney (Ryan) Murdock, Oconto Falls and Heather (Joseph) Foster, Manitowoc.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother-in-law: Leonard Buck and his father-in-law: Raymond Grotegut.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, 2426 N. Rapids Road, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Tom Pankow. The family will greet relatives and friends at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church from 9:30 a.m., Saturday, May 7, 2011, until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. A luncheon celebrating Larry's life will be held in the fellowship hall after the service. Entombment will take place at Knollwood Mausoleum, Manitowoc. A funeral service was previously held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Mesa, Ariz. on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011.

Jennifer would like to thank their families and many friends for their support, cards and letters of concern during his illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials are directed to Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, Manitowoc Lutheran High School, or a charity of your choice.
