Professional Football Player. For nine seasons (2005 to 2013), he played at the kicker position in the National Football League with the Tennessee Titans. Bironas set the NFL single game record for most field goals, when he kicked eight in a contest against the Houston Texans during the 2007 season. Born James Robert Douglas Bironas, he attended Trinity High School in Louisville, Kentucky and played collegiate football at Auburn University and later Georgia Southern University. After a period of playing in the Arena Football League, he signed with Tennessee in 2005. In 2007, he earned both Pro-Bowl and All-Pro honors, as he led the league with 35 field goals. Bironas kicked a Tennessee Titans' team record of eleven winning field goals during the course of his career which included a 60-yarder against the Indianapolis Colts in 2006. In 144 regular season games, he compiled 1,032 points. Bironas died in an automobile accident. At the time of his death, he was married to the daughter of Hall of Fame former quarterback Terry Bradshaw.
