Actor. Born in Highspire, Pennsylvania (which is outside of Harrisburg), Keefer marked his Broadway debut in a production of "Othello" (1945). His breakthrough part and perhaps his best known role was his origination of "Bernard" in the Arthur Miller play "The Death of a Salesman" (1949 to 1950). He would repeat the role in the motion picture adaptation in 1951. For over four decades (1950s into the 1990s), he appeared in scores of popular television programs including a 1961 episode from "The Twilight Zone" titled "It's a Good Life." He was married to actress Catherine McLeod from 1950 until her death in 1997. In addition, Keefer is a co-founder of the Actor Studio in New York.
