STREATOR — John A. Pouk, 96, formerly of 1203 N. Jackson St., died at 6:20 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, 1989, at St. Joseph's Nursing Home, Lacon.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, with a mass of Christian burial at St. Stephen's Church.

Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery.

Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at Hagi Funeral Home.

Born Aug. 15, 1893, in Czechoslovakia, he and Agnes Majercin were married on Oct. 24, 1916, at St. Stephen's Church by Monsignor Louis Biscupski.

Surviving are sons John Pouk and Louis Pouk, both of Streator; daughters, Mary (Mrs. Dominic) Dicristofano of Darien, Josephine Pouk and Grace Pouk, both of Streator, Teresa (Mrs. Eugene) Baxendale of Aurora, and Rita (Mrs. Dallas) Applegate of Morris; 26 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and a son, Daniel Pouk.

Employed by Anthony Company prior to his retirement. He resided in Streator most of his life. He was a member of St. Stephen's Church.

STREATOR — Services for John A. Pouk, 96, formerly of 1203 N. Jackson St., who died Sunday morning at St. Joseph's Nursing Home, Lacon, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stephen's Church.

The Rev. Peter Bolerasky officiated at the mass of Christian burial. Seminarian Peter Harris gave the scripture reading.

St. Stephen's Grade School, under the direction of JoAnn Cave, provided music for the mass. Erica Byers was organist.

A prayer service was held at Hagi Funeral Home prior to the mass.

Monsignor George Dzuryo conducted cemetery rites at St. Stephen's Cemetery Chapel.

Serving as pallbearers were Paul Baxendale, Ken Applegate, Robert Pouk, Paul Sima, Joseph Decristofano and Bob Bangiorno.
