This is a very old lot. The stones are eroded beyond easy legibility and yet some name, carved deeply, can still be read.

STONES and INSCRIPTIONS
There is a white marble obelisk, inscribed on all 4 sides.
---Front:
The names Maria B. Way and Emily G. Parker are visible. They were daughters of Thomas and Maria Bloomer.
---Left side :
Erected to the Memory of My Husband
Thomas Bloomer
Died June 5, 1860
[NOTE: Inscription by Glovina Bassett Bloomer, Thomas’s second wife.]
---Right side:
The names Charles Bloomer and Benton Bloomer are visible. Charles was Benton’s son. Benton is memorialized by a recently erected military stone on this lot.
---Rear:

---In front of the obelisk are 3 initialed footstones, left to right:
1) E.G.P. (Emily G. Parker); T.B. (Thomas Bloomer).; and 3) M.B.W. (Maria B. Way).
---To the right of the obelisk is an Arlington-style military stone, erected by Green-Wood Cemetery as part of its Civil War program. It is inscribed:

---At the front right of the lot is a large marble stone, fallen and broken. The visible text is:
Maria
(the break is here—but the text was probably “Beloved Wife of”)

[NOTE: Maria was the first wife of Thomas Bloomer. His second wife, not buried here, was Glovina Bassett, a widow with 2 small children. They were married New York City May 5 1844, 2 years after Maria’s death.
