JOCOY, Dr. JOCK Dr. Jock Jocoy died in his home September 27, 2008. Born February 18, 1926, in New London, Connecticut, to Lt. Jesse Earl Jocoy and Winifred Mae Jocoy. He graduated from La Jolla High, where he played football and basketball. He served in the U.S. Navy as gunner's mate during World War II. He married Katie O'Rourke on August 7, 1948. He was a lifeguard at Mission Beach and Pacific Beach during the summers of 1943 to 1947. Graduated from UC Davis, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1954. He practiced on California Thoroughbred racetracks 1954 to 1983. He accepted the position as official veterinarian for Del Mar racetrack 1983 to 1994. When not busy, he competed in the National Masters meets and was the Decathlon champion for age group 55 to 59. Visitation on Friday, October 3rd, 12 to 4 p.m. at El Camino Memorial Park, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, Sorrento Valley. Funeral will be held at St. Peters Episcopal Church, Del Mar, on Saturday, October 4th, at 11:30 a.m.
