Mrs. Bessie May Muckle, 68, of Waynesburg, R. D. 5, died at 3:10 p.m. Monday, December 29, 1969, in Greene County Memorial Hospital. She had been in her usual health until suffering a stroke on Saturday.

She was born March 3, 1901, in Greene County, near Rutan, the daughter of Nathan B. and Emily Ann Grimes Johnston.

Mrs. Muckle had spent all of her life in Greene County, and had been a resident of the Ruff Creek area since 1925.

She was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church at Ruff Creek where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years.

Surviving are her husband, J. A. Muckle, whom she married October 24, 1925; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Shirley) Cipcic, of Balboa, the Panama Canal Zone; two sisters: Mrs. Bernice Phillips, of Waynesburg, R. D. 2, and Mrs. Anna Birch, of Carmichaels, R. D. 1; one brother, Lew Johnston, of Waynesburg, R. D. 1, and several nieces and nephews.
