Jack R. Rider Jr. suddenly passed away from his place to his Heavenly reward on Sunday, June 3, 2012, in Zephyrhills, Fla. By his side was his wife, best friend and dance partner of 45 years, Kay Lynn. Jackie was born on Feb. 14, 1947, in Riverside, Calif., to Jack and Evelyn Rider.
Jack was a member of the first Bullock Creek graduating class of 1965, where he was very involved in sports. He married Kay Lynn Smith on Aug. 13, 1966, and they moved from Midland in 1971. Jack retired from the Oak Ridge Y12 facility after 29 years.
Jack is survived by wife, Kay Lynn; sons, Kurt (Linda) Rider of Kingston, Tenn. and Kyle (Jill) Rider of Knoxville, Tenn. Jack loved being grandpa to Kevin, Kristy, Kelly, Bo and Brett; and great-grandpa to Bentley. His brother, Gilbert (Nancy) Rider and Uncle Ed (Marilyn) Rider also survive him. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Kay Rider; parent Jack and Evelyn Rider; and special father-in-law Benton Smith.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012
from the Homer United Methodist Church, with Pastor David Mulder officiating, and interment in the Homer Township cemetery. Jack's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St., Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
