Gladys Norton, 91, of Beatrice, formerly of Filley, died Friday night, October 10, 2014 in Beatrice. She was born on September 10, 1923 at rural Filley and graduated from Filley High School in 1941.

She worked at the Filley Bank as head cashier and vice-president for over 20 years, retiring in 1988. She married Robert Norton on May 8, 1975 in Filley. They moved to Flowing Springs in Beatrice in 2002.

She was a former member of the Filley United Methodist Church where she had been active in the UMW. She was currently a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Beatrice.

She was a breast cancer survivor and enjoyed quilting, baking pies, traveling, yard work and golfing.

Survivors include one son, Randy Siefkes and wife Jan of Pasadena, CA; one daughter, Phyllis Steube and husband Loyal of Granby, CO; two step-sons, David Norton and wife Betty of Filley and Steve Norton and wife Pam of Beatrice; two step-daughters, Linda Lamb and husband James of Elkhorn and Marcia Busboom and husband John of Pickrell; twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Audrey Bowers of Lincoln; two nieces, Jolene Huls and husband Ervin of Beatrice and Glenna Heller and husband Paul of Clatonia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Bertha Bowers Hendricksen, her husband, Robert Norton, who died on September 9, 2008, an infant daughter, Gail , three brothers, Orval, Donald and Gene Hendricksen, sister-in-law, Ilene Hendricksen, one nephew, Daniel Hendricksen and one niece, Harriet Fotinos.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the Filley Cemetery.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Centenary United Methodist Church of Beatrice with Rev. Dr. Charles Spence, III officiating.

A memorial has been established to the Filley Cemetery and Susan G. Komen Foundation.

The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home from noon Sunday until 11:00 A.M. Tuesday and not at the church.
