KUTSCHER, MARVIN FREDERICK: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice

San Diego Union-Tribune, The (CA) - Sunday, February 24, 2008
Deceased Name: KUTSCHER, MARVIN FREDERICK
KUTSCHER, MARVIN FREDERICK Marvin Frederick Kutscher, 85, passed away peacefully early on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2008, from natural causes. The world lost a remarkably compassionate, trusting and giving man who was motivated all his life by a desire to help others. As a volunteer, he spent countless hours providing transportation and nutritional and moral support to those in need. He was repaid with gratitude and respect. Marvin grew up in a family of five boys. From the oldest to the youngest they are Vernon, Ernest, Leroy, Marvin and Norman. The family home in Harvey, Illinois was filled with the boy's boisterous activity and a sense of love and respect for each other. One wonders how the parents, Ernest and Margaret, survived such high jinks from the raucous four (Vernon was the quiet, serious one). At the beginning of World War II, the boys ranged in age from 15 to 30. Vernon stayed home to work in the defense industry, but the others served in the military. In the Chicago area, Marvin encountered a poster which claimed to train, in San Diego, those who joined the Marines. He joined. He escaped the cold and he fell in love with San Diego. He saw combat in the South Pacific and returned with many stories, but without wounds. He and his young wife Lila moved to La Jolla Cove to begin their peacetime life. Marvin is survived by a daughter Kathy and son Bob. Marvin knew much joy in his life, but he also knew tragedy. He married three times and was a loving, devoted husband. He was predeceased by his wives. The world would be a better place if more people were like Marvin. With his love of people and his uncanny sense of humor and ready smile he had so many friends. He always listened with sincere concern and compassion and provided caring and helpful advice. He knew that by giving so much he felt deeply rewarded with the knowledge that he made the world a better place in that his caring and selfless giving of his time really made a difference for those he touched. He was right. He will be deeply missed by all those who were truly blessed to have known, loved and shared time with such a wonderful man. At Marvin's request, no Services were held.
