LAURA P. HESSEL

Mrs. Laura Hessel, 75, of Francis Creek, died at Park Lawn Home, Manitowoc, where she had been a patient seven days. Earlier, she had been a patient two months at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rockwood Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rockwood, the Rev. David Worgull officiating. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Francis Creek.

Mrs. Hessel was born Laura Kassa, July 26, 1885, at Hika, Town of Centerville, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Wencel and Anna Duchas Kassa. She received her elementary education in the town of Centerville. She was married to Charles Hessel April 22, 1907, at Manitowoc.

For many years, they operated the Hessel eating establishment and bowling alley, retiring in 1958. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1957. Mr.Hessel was postmaster at Francis Creek and also director of the Francis Creek State Bank for 16 years. He preceded her in death in January, 1960.

Mrs. Hessel was a member of Rockwood Evangelical Lutheran Church and also a member of the Bible Class of the church.

A son Gardy preceded her in death in 1955 and a brother and sister also preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Larry Axel of Francis Creek; two sons, Paul of Two Rivers and Richard of north Fond du Lac; three sisters, Mrs. William H. Kappelman of Rt. 2, Manitowoc Mrs. William Slater and Alma of Cleveland; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville, after 2 p.m. Wednesday until 10:30 a.m. Thursday and at the church after 11 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial has been established in her honor and donations may be sent to Rockwood Evangelical Lutheran Church.
