Obituary for James Wooster

James S. Wooster, 95, of Coldwater, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility.

A funeral service will take place at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 13, 2014 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Shayne Looper from Lockwood Community Church officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home.

James was born January 12, 1919 to Lester and Mary (Rice) Wooster in Brighton, IN. He finished high school and in 1939 married Virginia Woodcox. James worked for LA Darling for 20 plus years before starting Teri Lane Ceramics at Coldwater Lake, which he and Virginia operated for many years. He also worked at the Wing House Museum as a curator.

Mr. Wooster was a 50 year member of the UCT and a past member of the Coldwater Eagles. He enjoyed meeting and talking to people. James liked craft work and especially painting. He and Virginia spent many years wintering in Florida and going north to mushroom hunt. Most of all he was a loving family man.

James is survived by his daughter Carolyn Sue (Rodney) Renner of Quincy; his daughter-in-law Carol Wooster of Coldwater; his significant other Shirley Alger of Coldwater; his brother Nelson Wooster of Sturgis; his sister Mabel Evans of LaGrange; his grandchildren Jeffrey (Theresa) Gray, Chris (Linda) Gray, Daniel (Dawn) Gray, Todd (Cathy) Gray, Traci Wooster, and Toni (John) Hooper; 12 great grandchildren and 12 great, great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Virginia Wooster; his son James “Sonny” Wooster, his sister Carol Wagner; his grand-daughter Teri Wooster; his step-grandchildren Jeffrey and Martin Renner.

Memorials may be directed to the H.C. Burnside Center.
