Professional Hockey Player. A native of Cudworth, Saskatchewan, he was born Gerald Joseph Ehman. He played the position of right wing. The 6'00, and 175lbs, Ehman played for the Boston Bruins from 1957 to 1958 (NHL), Detroit Red Wings from 1958 to 1959 (NHL), Toronto Maple Leafs from 1958 to 1961, and 1963 to 1964 (NHL), Oakland Seals from 1967 to 1970, and the California Golden Seals from 1970 to 1971 (NHL). Known as 'Tex' to his fans he also played for several minor hockey teams in the AHL, WHL, and QHL, including the Hershey Bears and the Springfield Indians. He was the recipient of the John B. Sollenberger Trophy for 1963 to 1964. After his retirement from playing hockey in 1971, he became involved in scouting in Western Canada, and then in 1974, when he was named Assistant General Manager and Director of Scouting for the New York Islanders, a post he held until his retirement from the organization in 2003. For his work as a scout he was awarded four Stanley Cup rings. On March 21, 2006, at the age of 73, he passed away after a battle with lung cancer. Ehman's career statistic totals were amassing 96 goals, and 116 assists, in 429 games.
