Her acting credits included “Krakatoa,” “East of Java,” “MASH,” “The Beverly Hillbillies” and “Hill Street Blues.” Haru was the author of the 2012 memoir Iron Lotus: Memoirs of Sumi Sevilla Haru. Haru served on the Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) national board and was a former interim Screen Actors Guild president, the first and only woman of color to hold the position as president.
