WILLISTON, N. D. - DeLores Gafkjen, 72, a long-time Williston resident, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2003, at the Mercy Medical Center in Williston.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday morning, June 9, at Gloria Del Lutheran Church. Rev. April Peterson will officiate and interment will be in St. Lukes Cemetery. A family service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday evening at Eversons.
DeLores I. Flexhaug was born August 6, 1930 in Williston, to Henry and Selma (Urevig) Flexhaug. She was raised on the farm, northwest of Williston, and attended Johnson Country School.
On December 4, 1968 DeLores married Orval Gafkjen in Minot.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church north of Williston, the Moose Lodge, American Legion Auxiliary, Farm Bureau, Ladies Aid and Sons of Norway. She spent many years as a member of the V.F.W. Auxililary and worked her way up through the various offices, eventually becoming the State President in 1985-86.
Surviving DeLores are her husband, Orval of Williston; sons, William (and Barbara) Dickinson of Butte, Mont. and George (and Kin) Dickinson of Glendive, Mont.; her daughters, Barb Lindahl Heath of Monroe, Wash., Lois (and Terry) McIvor of Williston, and Wanda Anstead of Ft. Collins, Colo.; fifteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and her sister One (and Ron) Semeling of Lynnwood, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Dawn LaRae Lindahl; brothers, Harlen, Byron and Sidney Flexhaug; sister, Orvilla Flatley; and son-in-law, Don Lindahl.
