Born in Kearney, Neb., on September 12, 1923, he was a son of the late Lillie (Barlow) and Amos Weddle.

Bill was a 1948 graduate of the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy (now Missouri University of Science and Technology).

His education was interrupted by World War II, and he served in the Navy as an aviation electronics technician.

After graduating from college, he worked as a metallurgical engineer.

He was briefly employed by Weirton Steel and TRW, Inc., but spent most of his career at General Electric in Cleveland.

He retired from General Electric in 1983.

Bill's interests included reading, watching historical documentaries, visiting historic sites, computer programming, and spending time with his family.

He was the devoted husband of Iona Colleen (Bailey), whom he married on April 12, 1957.
