Fred was born at Fort Scott, Kansas. Some records indicate that he was born on 5/27/1878 and other records note he was born 5/24/1875. He was the son of John and Mary C. (Wickman) Andregg. In 1900, the family was living in Boise, Ada County, Idaho. The family at this time consisted of the mother and father and children: Albert, Mary, Fred, Millie, Amanda, Julius, Elma, Mitchell, George, and Edna.

On April 28, 1910, Fred was living in Montrose County, Colorado, enumerated with Charles McMullin and Charles’ family.

In 1918, Fred registered for the draft in Humboldt County, Nevada. He stated his occupation as blacksmith. By this time he was married to Hattie (Bonner) Andregg. By 1920, Fred and Hattie were living at Majube, Pershing County, Nevada. He was working as a tin miner and she was working in a mining camp as a cook.

Between 1929 and 1932, Fred was living in Elko, Nevada.

In 1932, Fred was incarcerated at the Nevada State Prison as an inmate. He was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Lois Ballas who died in a vehicular accident on 4/16/1932. He was received at the prison on June 4, 1932 and paroled on May 3, 1933. Fred was pardoned on November 14, 1934.

On October 31, 1933, Fred stated in his prison records that he was married; but by April 12, 1934, Fred states that he is divorced. It is unknown whether they were actually married or divorced.
