Deceased Name: Marrujo, Fernando Garcia, 85, of La Habra, died Monday, January 19th at 1:58 pm from natural causes at Park Regency Retirement Home in La Habra. Fernando was born to Mariana and Rafael Marrujo on June 28, 1923 in Jerome, AZ. He was the sixth of ten children. His siblings: Babe, Lucy, Kate, Connie, Ernie, Jen and Burt preceded him in death, and he is survived by his brother Peter and sister Tina of California. After graduating from Jerome High School in 1941, Fernando began his service in the Army in the 3187th Signal Service Battalion in Europe, as a decoder, during World War II. Upon return from service, he attended UCLA where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1950. He then began his lifelong career as a Nuclear Pump Engineer for Byron Jackson. It was there where he met his bride-to-be, Dorothy Zeller. They married after ten months of courtship and soon began their family together, a total of eight in all. While still a young father, Fernando balanced work, family, and education as he earned his Masters of Science in Engineering from USC in 1958. Fernando devoted himself to his family, religion, and work. He was an extraordinary man who possessed strong character, a loving heart, and a brilliant mind. He was involved in all of his children's activities and did so with a happy heart. Fernando enjoyed education, camping, hiking, walking, playing golf and guitar, and spending time with his family. Survivors include his three daughters: Patricia, Susan, and Elizabeth; five sons: David, Paul, Robert, Mark, and John, and twenty grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The viewing will be held at White Emerson Mortuary in Whittier on Sat. 1/24 from 1:00- 5:00 pm with the Rosary beginning at 2:00pm. Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in La Habra on Mon. 1/26 at 9:00am with graveside services immediately following at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier.
