Allen Sears

“Al” was born in Portland on December 17, 1924 to Loren and Louella Sears. Al passed peacefully and quietly at home, as he wished, on October 17, 2014 - 2 months shy of his 90th birthday.

He and his sisters; Lola, Marvel and Jean; were lovingly raised by their grandma when their mother passed away in 1932.

After childhood, Al proudly joined the Army and served during WWII from 3/43 to 4/46 in Rhineland, Central Europe. After returning home he finished school and graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School in June 1947. In August 1947, he married Doris Miller. They later divorced after having 4 children: Shirley, Ken, Chuck and Cheryl. Being in the Reserves, he was called for active duty in 1949, this time in the Marines, in Korea from 6/49 to 6/51. He received several medals and awards during his time serving his country, including the Purple Heart when he was wounded in Korea.

Once healed up and back in civilian life, be began his business career that ended with owning American Metal Products in Portland. Wanting to live life to the fullest, he retired early and began chasing the sun. He enjoyed travelling the world with his buddies; playing tennis and golf; cars, boats, planes and anything with an engine and relaxing with friends.

Al will always be loved, remembered and greatly missed.

A service was held at Willamette National Cemetery.
