Cpl Winnie was a Marine Corps veteran. She attended basic training at MCRD Paris Island with follow on training at NAS/NATTC Memphis where she studied avionics and how to troubleshoot and repair the avionics systems of naval and Marine aircraft. She served from 1975 to 1979. A few short months following discharge Linda died as the result of an automobile accident that also claimed the lives of her husband Tom, and young son John.
