Vernon Ray Stoughton was born on 13 Oct. 1889, in Trinidad, Colorado.

He was the son of Lewis N. Stoughton (1852-1918) and Nancy Fillmore Bishop (1852-1918), both of whom were born, in Ohio.

In 1910, he was married and he was working as a Plasterer, still in Colorado.
By 1920, he was still living in or around Trinidad and he was employed as Labor, with the “Steam Railroad.”
By 1930, he had 7 children living with him and he was no longer working on the Railroad…he was self employed as a Builder and Plasterer and he had removed, in 1926, from Colorado to Los Angeles, California.
He died 5 Feb. 1935 and he and his wife are buried in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, in Glendale, CA. The cause of death is listed as Berger’s Disease or Reynaud’s Disease: Berger’s is a Kidney disease caused by the IgA antibody; this hampers your kidneys' ability to filter waste and excess water from your blood. Reynaud’s is a vasoplastic disorder, causing discoloration of the fingers, toes, and occasionally other areas and the phenomenon is believed to be the result of vasospasms that decrease blood supply to the respective regions. Emotional stress and cold are classic triggers of the phenomenon.

He married Rose Catherine Slator on 4 May 1908 and she was born on 2 Sept 1891 and she was the daughter of George Bradley Slator (1844-1923) and Mary Ann Corley; (1858-1944) and her parents were both born in England. Rose died on 4 Dec. 1945, in Los Angeles, CA
