DECATUR — Daniel Franklin King, 61, of Decatur, died at 9:35 p.m., Wednesday, September 11, 2013, in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 16, 2013, in Linwood Cemetery, Pana, IL. Reverend Deacon John O’Brien will officiate. Memorials may be made in his honor to Daniel’s family. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of arrangements.
Dan was born on March 17, 1952, the son of George and Irene (Mannix) King. He grew up in Dalton City, IL, and attended Mt. Zion schools. He married Becky Nemeth on March 30, 1990, in Lincoln, IL. He was a member of the Decatur Gun Club and Warrensburg Sports Club.
Along with his loving wife Becky, of over 23 years, Dan is survived by their children: Jennifer Gratkins, her husband Steve, of Tucson, AZ; son, Alex King of Decatur, IL; stepsons: Michael Hayes, his wife Loringie, of Decatur, IL; Ryan Hayes, his wife Cyndi, of Decatur, IL; two granddaughters: Chloe and Hailey Hayes; one sister, Kate King, of Davenport, IO; Aunt Ellen Dickson, several cousins, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two infant brothers.
Dan never met a stranger, had a great sense of humor, and always shared his warm smile. Dan loved trapshooting, and in his spare time he cherished spending time with his children and granddaughters. Dan was a wonderful husband, dad, brother, and son, and friend, and he will truly be missed.
