US Congressman. He graduated from the University of Louisville in 1855, was admitted to the bar and commenced law practice in Helena. Appointed judge of the first judicial district of Arkansas, he served from 1864 to 1868. He was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-second Congress and served from March 4, 1871 to March 3, 1873. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he engaged in agricultural pursuits until his death.
