Shirley Campbell LeMay, wife of Lt. Col Robert LeMay, Jr. departed this life on Tuesday, July 2 at Rex Hospital among family and friends.
She was the daughter of Robert and Louise Campbell of Oxford, MS. She spent her early years with her family and grandmother in Oxford.
Later, Shirley and her grandmother moved to Memphis and lived with her Aunt and Uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Polk Agee. While in Memphis she graduated from the Saint Mary's School for Girls.
Shirley was active in the Women's Club of Raleigh and served a term as First Vice-President.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Bob; her only daughter, Sandra LeMay Jones; three grandchildren, Taylor LeMay Jones, Brooks LeMay Blake, and Harris LeMay Jones; a son-in-law, James R. Jones; and two great grandchildren, Riley Blake and Gracie Blake.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 19 at 1:00pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary Street, Raleigh, NC.
Interment will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. (Interred 3 November 2014)
