DANVILLE — Margaret V. Mehalic, 88, of Danville, formerly of Streator, passed away Friday, Oct. 1, at North Logan Healthcare Center in Danville.

Visitation will be from 8 to 9:15 a.m. Monday at Winterrowd Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Stephen's Cemetery. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery.

Margaret was born Feb. 12, 1922, in Streator to Charles and Charlotte Mae (Petty) Longnecker.

She married John J. Mehalic on March 21, 1946 in Arkansas. He passed away June 5, 1991.

She is survived by a daughter, Judith (Robert) Iverson of Danville; two sons, Tim Mehalic of Cornell and George Mehalic of Pennsylvania; granddaughters, Anne (fiancé Jason Binette) Iverson and Amy Iverson, both of Danville; a sister, Doris Chergoski of Streator; and a brother, Robert Longnecker of Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Glenn and Charles Longnecker; sisters, Roberta Carlson, Frances Chergoski, Madge Beamer, Phyllis Briner, Betty Pouk and Jean McCreight.

She attended Streator country grade schools and graduated from Streator High School in 1940.

She was a member of St. Stephen's Church. Margaret was a nurse's aide and secretary at St. Mary's Hospital.
