Mrs. Simmons was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She was a loan officer of USDA Federal Credit Union and a former teacher at Headstart. When she was growing up she loved swimming and was a lifeguard. Mrs. Simmons was a loving mom and grannie.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Mitchell and special friends, Jock Grantham and Paul Edwards.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest Simmons; son, Joseph “Simeon” Mitchell of Tennessee; daughters, Heather C. Grippando (Tony) of Pearl, Michell Carpenter (Josh) of Bossier City, LA and Angie Miles (Mike) of Brandon; brother, John Mitchell of Louisville; sister, Shirley Givens of Crystal Springs; grandchildren, Garrett Parker, Christopher Carpenter and Ashley Miles.
