William was the son of Adam and Catherine Bott. About 1910 he married Martha Walker and they had four children: William, Alice, James and Mary Catherine. As a young man he worked as a baker. Later he worked as a bartender in saloons before eventually becoming the proprietor of a restaurant. William died of a cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 71.
