Lance Corporal Dallas was a member of the Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 263, Marine Air Group 15, 9th Marine Amphibious Brigade. On April 27, 1967, he was the gunner flying in a Sikorsky Seahorse Utility Helicopter (UH-34D). When the aircraft took off from the aft platform of its ship, it lost power and crashed into the sea offshore South Vietnam. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
