Ray Alex Walden was born on May 25, 1903 in Knox County, Tennessee, and he was the son of Alex L Walden (1872–1944) and his wife Ritta Ellen (Beets) Walden (1868–1951).
He had served in World War II, had been married but was divorced and had resided in Knoxville while a candy and confection salesman. However, at the age of 38 he was in the Tennessee State Penitentiary, Nashville, where he was "legally electrocuted" on February 13, 1942. Burial was the same day in Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville.
