Born in South Kingstown, she was a daughter of the late Milfred Champlin, Sr. and Pearl (Reels) Champlin.
Mrs. Christy was a member of the Narragansett Indian Tribe and was employed for the tribe as a Tribal Clerk.
She is survived by four children, Nita M. Christy, Sheila Christy, and Steven Christy, all of South Kingstown, and James R. Christy, Jr. of Voluntown, CT, ; nine grandchildren; four brothers, Eugene Champlin, Douglas Champlin, Craig Champlin, and Gary Champlin; and five sisters, Barbara Sekator, Virginia Perry, Sheila Champlin-Levy, Donna Maddox, and Gail Champlin. She was the sister of the late Mickey Champlin, Gloria Fry, and Cynthia Champlin.
A graveside service was held Monday in New Fernwod Cemetery, Kingston.
