Billings Gazette, May 23, 1974:
James William Hamilton, 67, of 3312 Phillips St., died Tuesday in Deaconess Hospital, a day after entering the hospital.

He had moved to Billings in 1912 with his parents, and worked as a meat cutter for packing plants, then was a lightbulb salesman for Verda Ray Co. until 1960.

During World War II, he worked along Alaska Highway, during its construction, as a recapper for a tire firm.

He was a member of First Methodist Church and past president of Eagles Lodge in Billings.
Mr. Hamilton was born Feb. 9, 1907, in Ogden, Utah, a son of Mr. and Mrs. James Henry Hamilton. He married Marie L. Bungard on Aug. 1, 1927, in Billings.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Smith’s Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Dr. Vern L. Klingman of United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Charles Wright, Springfield, Ore.; a brother, Robert A. Hamilton of Missoula; a sister, Mrs. Hattie Lee, Spokane, Wash.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
