George R. Monahan, 56, of Orlando, FL, died suddenly in his home.

He is survived by his beloved, Grace “Gracie” Toto of Brooklyn, NY; four sisters Janice M. Stalmok and her husband Lawrence of Paxton, Joan P. Spind and her husband, Brian, Claire J. Allen and her husband, George and Carol M. Tisdell and her husband, John all of Worcester; and thirteen nieces and nephews.

He was born in Worcester on July 17th, 1953, the son of George F. and Claire T. (Harrington) Monahan. George graduated from Saint Peter’s High School in 1971 and from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1980. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. He was a Specialist E-4 and was stationed in Germany.

George lived in the Manhattan area for many years where he had a long and successful career on Wall Street culminating as Vice President and Director, Industry Studies at Securities Industry Association. He enjoyed golf, fishing and traveling. George took an early retirement and relocated to Orlando where he pursued his love of golf.

The funeral is Saturday, July 24th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester. Burial will be in Saint John’s Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 until 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
