Elizabeth was born the 10th of 11 children born to Michael and Mary Fox in West Albany, Wabasha, Minnesota. Her siblings were: Anna, Bernard, Bridget, Catherine Ann, Mary, Patrick (died young from lightning strike), Sarah, John, Jane, and Michael.
Her father died when she was 3 years old and she was raised on the family farm which her oldest brother Bernard took over running after her fathers death.
She never married and worked as a teacher and a seamstress in Nebraska with her sister Jennie and then later in Los Angeles. In 1899 her youngest brother Michael's wife died in childbirth leaving 4 small children that were given to the Fox and Nelson siblings to raise. Emma raised Aloysius "ALLIE" Joseph Fox.
Elizabeth eventually settled in Los Angeles area.
