WORCESTER-John L. Monahan, 86, of Worcester, died Sunday, August 28th in the Meadows of Leicester after an illness. His wife of 45 years, Barbara A. (McDermott) Monahan died in April. He leaves 2 daughters, Barbara A. and Tracey A. Monahan both of Worcester, a nephew and several nieces, including Kerrie A. Wallace of Worcester.

He was born in Worcester, the son of John J. and Mary J. (Lyndon) Monahan and graduated from the Worcester Public School System. He was a WWII Army Veteran. He graduated from Worcester State College earning his Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Mr. Monahan was employed as an executive salesman with ComGas for 50 years, until retiring. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and the American Legion Post.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester, MA, 01603. O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue is directing arrangements which are private.
