The death of Samuel F. Bielby, aged 89 years, a lifelong resident of this locality, a well known farmer and much respected citizen, occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Arthur Robson, Westmoreland, Sunday morning at 2:10. He had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. E. R. Davis, 618 N. Jay street, and a week ago Sunday he went to
Westmoreland for a visit. He was then in good health but on Wednesday he was stricken ill and had to take to his bed. Being afflicted with peritonitis, in his advanced age, he had not the vitality to withstand it and he failed gradually until the end.
Last Friday, October 21, was Mr. Bielby's 89th birthday. he was born in the town of Westmoreland October 21, 1841. All of his life had been spent in this vicinity. Up to
the time of his retirement from active labor, five years ago, he had always followed farming in which he was expert and successful. In this city fifty years ago the coming
Thanksgiving Day, he married Miss Priscilla Newhouse. Her death occurred here February 28, last. Mr. Bielby attended the Baptist Church. He is survived by a son, Howard N. Bielby, Rome, the two daughters mentioned, another daughter, Mrs. Wadson M. Scoville, Oswego, and three brothers, John E., Thomas R. and Albert Bielby, all of Rome.
