August Gene Carloni was born Nov. 9, 1927, in Cleveland, Ohio. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Irene; daughter Laura Carloni of Buellton; daughter Diana Carloni O'Malley and son-in-law Charles O'Malley of Victorville; son Michael Carloni of Manhattan Beach; and a sister, Anne McFadden, of Seven Hills, Ohio. He passed away April 9, 2007, at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance. August was a veteran of World War II who served in Tokyo, Japan. He graduated from Kent State University in Ohio and went on to pass the Ohio State Bar. He and his wife and children moved to California in 1957. He then passed the California State Bar where he has been practicing law for 46 years. August was involved in many Italian organizations. He was one of the founders of the Italian American Bar Association, was past president of Federated Italo Americans, past president and district governor for Unico National, a member of the National Italian American Federation, and Chairman of the 500th Anniversary of Christopher Columbus discovering America. He was a former member of the Vikings of Scandia and a supporter of Hope University. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 22, at St. Peters Church, 1039 N. Broadway, Los Angeles, with reception to follow at Casa Italiana. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Little Company of Mary Hospital Foundation.
