ANDERSON – Thelma May (Bowers) Schaekel-Bell-Pearson, age 80 of Anderson, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital. She was born on February 27, 1934 in Little Rock, Arkansas as the daughter of Leon and Hazel Bowers.

Thelma was a CPA in Shelbyville area for over 20 years. She also ran booths at the Liberty Bell flea market with her husband Ralph for several years. She enjoyed crocheting in her free time and had spent much of her time camping. She could also be found frequenting thrift shops and sitting at a slot machine at Hoosier Park Casino.

Surviving Thelma are her son, Chris (Tracie) Schaekel of Sewell, NJ; brother, Harold Bowers of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Ashley, Christopher, Amanda, Breanne, Courtney and Savanna; daughter-in-law; Pam Bell of Indianapolis; and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Oscar Henry Schaekel, Ralph Kenneth Bell and Dale Pearson; son, Troy Bell; granddaughter, Stephanie Schaekel; sister, Lilly Morrison; and brother, Jim Bowers.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 124 E. Staat St., Fortville, IN 46040. There will be visitation prior to the funeral service from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Pastor Gary Klinger will be officiating. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville.
