Mr. Simmons was Master Mason, Scottish Rite Mason and York Rite Mason.He was a Shriner and a member of the American Legion.He was a deputy sheriff in Copiah County and retired as a Lieutenant at the Pearl Police Department where he was Chief of Detectives.He was a member of the Fraternal Organization of Police.Mr. Simmons was in the Marine Corps, stationed at Camp Lejeune.
Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Mary Mitchell Simmons and his parents, Ernest E. Simmons, Sr. and Margaret Speese Simmons.
He is survived by daughters, Angie (Mike) Miles of Brandon, Michelle (Josh) Carpenter of Bossier City, LA and Heather (Tony) Grippando of Pearl; son, Joseph “Simeon” Mitchell of Tennessee; sister, Shirley Givens of Crystal Springs; grandchildren, Garrett Parker, Christopher Carpenter and Ashley Miles.
