Mrs. Joanna June Phillips, 38, wife of Maj. Fred L. Phillips and a former Holbrook and Waynesburg resident, died at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 6, 1956, in the Jackson Hospital, Jackson, Miss. Although she had not been in good health, her death was quite unexpected.
Born November 17, 1917 at Holbrook, she was a daughter of Orville and Ethel Gilbert Cunningham and was a graduate of Center Township High School and Waynesburg College. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and the Rogersville Methodist Church.
Surviving besides her husband and parents are two children and two sisters, Mrs. Betty McNemar of Central Station, W. Va., and Mrs. Harriet Taylor of Waynesburg.
