Leona Janette Jensen Orton, 82 passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2014.

She was born on May 23, 1932 in Fairview, Idaho to Delbert Lloyd and Leona Elizabeth Hyde Jensen. Her early years were spent in Fairview and she was raised and schooled in Ogden.

She married Joseph Howard Orton on August 16, 1950 in Ogden, Utah. Joseph passed away on May 3, 1992. She was sealed to him for eternity in the Ogden LDS Temple in 1993.

Leona was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving in various positions, including within the Sunday School and Primary Auxiliaries. She was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.

Leona was a loving foster parent to many with an open door policy. She loved singing to her grandchildren, enjoyed reading and camping, and was a prolific canner.

She will be remembered most for her generosity and her feisty disposition – she was quick-witted and sweet and sassy. Leona will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Leona is survived by her children, Catherine Phoenix Manos, Battle Creek, MI; Jay (Susan) Orton, North Ogden; Lucy (Dennis) Hall, North Ogden; LouAnn Fisk, Sandy; Kelly (Donna) Orton, Ogden; 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and by her sisters-in-law, Marco Orton, Morgan and JoAnn Sorensen, Rose Park.

Leona was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Debra Lee Orton; sons, Ray J Orton and James Howard Orton, son-in-law, John Fisk; one great-grandson, Donovan Fisk, by her parents, sister, Elizabeth Jensen, and brother, Lloyd D. Jensen.

The family wishes to thank Crestwood Care Center for their loving care of mom for nearly four years.
