Hall of Fame Professional Ice Hockey Player. One of the greatest and most respected players in the history of the National Hockey League (NHL), he was a key contributor to ten Stanley Cup Championships. For twenty seasons (1950 to 1951 and 1952 to 1971), he played at the center position in the National Hockey League with the Montreal Canadiens. Born Joseph Jean Arthur Beliveau, he began his lengthy association with hockey when he joined the Quebec Citadelles of the Quebec Junior Hockey League during the 1949-1950 season. In 1,125 regular season games, he compiled 507 goals, with 712 assists. He was recipient of the Hart Trophy twice (1956 and 1964), the Art Ross Trophy in 1956 and the Conn Smythe Trophy in 1965. In addition, he earned first-team all-star status six-times. After retiring as a player, he served with the Canadiens' front office. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972.
