Joseph was the son of Alexander Goss and Mary Miller. On 19 May 1900 he married Minnie Strohmeier and they had one son, Foster. They divorced in 1916 and on 20 Sep 1919 he married Elizabeth (Mitchell) Klusman. They had no children. On 05 Feb 1921 he married Louise (Phelear) Lucas. They, also, had no children although she had one son, Theodore, from a previous marriage. As a young man, he was employed as a truck driver for the John F. Oertel Co. Later in life he was the proprietor of a cafe. Joseph died of cerebral apoplexy (stroke) at the age of 67.
