Jo Ann Burman. On Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2014, we lost our beloved wife, mother, sister, and cousin. Jo Ann was born November 19, 1957 near Torrance California. Jo Ann is preceded in death by her father Joseph Warren Davis and is survived by her mother Rita Elaine Davis, her husband of 25 years, Steve Burman, her Children William and Rita, her Sister Kristin Tibbs (Robert), and nephew and niece Robbie and Shelby, brothers-in-law, Lawrence Burman and Joseph Burman, and numerous cousins, uncles and aunts. At age 13 Jo Ann's family moved to El Paso Texas where she attended Eastwood High School. Jo Ann earned her BS in Microbiology & a MS in Biology both from Texas Tech. Jo Ann worked as a commercial chemist in Denver Colorado and in El Paso. Jo Ann became a science teacher for 28 years retiring from Andress High School in 2012. Jo Ann encouraged many students who went on to achieve and she enjoyed crossing their paths over the years. Jo Ann enjoyed her coworkers' company and support. The family thanks the many friends, lifelong, college, and recent who supported Jo Ann over the years with mail, email and social media. Along with her husband, her two children were a cherished highlight of Jo Ann's life and she inspired them to dream big. The family thanks doctors & staff of the El Paso Respiratory & Sleep Consultants, for providing the hardest working, most dedicated, most studious, and caring physician we ever met. Also greatly appreciated over the past 18 months was the loving nursing and technical staff at Sierra, Sierra East, and Providence Hospitals including CCU, ICU and interventional Radiology. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 3, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home, 3839 Montana Ave. where a Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 12 Noon at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 2301 Zanzibar Rd. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations welcomed for the Pulmonary Hypertension Association at phassociation.org or . Funeral Arrangements under the direction of Martin Funeral Home Central, 3839 Montana Ave.
