Born in Peckville, son of Ralph and Argia Mattioli Caines, he was a graduate of Mid Valley High School and a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Lackawanna Valley, Peckville. He retired from Specialty Records Corp., having been employed in the hydraulic maintenance department. He was a firefighter, having served more than 25 years in the Olyphant Fire Department and a past president of Eureka Hose Company 4. He was a member of the Cochese Hunting Club and several local dart leagues. He was on a bowling team at Idle Hour Lanes in Dickson City. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the Raiders football team. He took great joy in his grandchildren.
Also surviving are a son, Perry Joseph, Olyphant; two daughters, Brittni and companion, Joseph Bergamino, Olyphant; and Kelli, Jessup; a brother, Glenn and wife, Lynn, Olyphant; two sisters, Brenda Caines and companion, Charles Ferris, Jessup; and Sandra Clark and husband, John, Jermyn; two grandchildren, Layla Bergamino and Brody Caines, both of Olyphant; nieces and nephews, Jesse Clark, Kristina O'Hara, Gabrielle and A.J. Ambrosecchia.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Jr.
The funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the Michael Wargo Jr. Funeral Home, 812 E. Scott St., Olyphant, with services at 10 in First United Presbyterian Church of Lackawanna Valley by the Rev. Virginia Miner. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park, Jermyn.
